Bridal Registry
Is the time at hand for you to use a bridal registry? If you are getting married and don't want to end up with sixteen crystal candy dishes and eight sets of guest towels, a bridal registry will offer your wedding guests a list of preferred wedding gifts from which to choose.
The first bridal registry began at a department store in Chicago in the 1920s, and spread quickly. The idea caught on until nearly every other department store around the country also created bridal registries. The practice continues today, although it is no longer limited to department stores. Today you can find a bridal registry at nearly any wedding specialty business, and even in many other kinds of stores where you might not normally expect them.
In the 1990s, Target stores began a bridal registry service that allowed couples to choose their preferred gifts through self-service electronic means. While innovative, and even fun, the procedure still limited gift selections only to Target stores. The couples could not sign up for services at all other locations where they wanted to register their wedding wish lists.
One problem with traditional wedding registries is that couples have to visit the stores one at a time, often making multiple trips to each store before a registry is completed. During the first trip, the couple decides generally on the items to be included in their registry. On the second, they determine which patterns they wish to purchase for their sets of household items and tableware. On the third, they actually complete the registry. This one element of wedding planning can take several hours, or even days.
As people become more time-conscious and computer savvy, online bridal registries have become the trend. These registries allow engaged couples to register for any items they want while sitting in front of their home computer and creating their entire registry on-line.
Online bridal registries are great due to their incomparable savings in time and mileage. An online bridal registry makes registering possible in a matter of minutes rather than hours or days. There are even universal registries available that allow bridal registry sites to communicate with each other to exchange information.
Most recently, another type of bridal registry - the cash registry - has taken the bridal registry market by storm. These cash registries are appearing all over the World Wide Web. Their innovation lies in the fact that they allow wedding guests to give cash gifts via the internet rather than running from store to store to purchase traditional gifts. In addition to providing the registering couple with the flexibility to request anything that they want, without being constrained by the stock of a particular store, cash gift registries offer a more personal gifting experience for the gift-giver, by enabling them to gift cash towards particular registry items which is far more personal than simply gifting cash.
As you can see, there is a wide variety of bridal registries available. Examine them closely and online registries are certain to impress you with their accessibility and convenience.
